U. S. lawmakers are considering a bill to ban the sale of counterfeit Viagra in the U.
The proposal, introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-VT, calls for a ban on Internet drug purchases in the U.
In a statement, Sanders said: “The current ban on the sale of Viagra, Cialis or other counterfeit drugs is illegal, a violation of federal law and will not stop the flow of counterfeit products to the U. drug marketplace.
“We urge the U. and international health officials and the government to immediately stop the flow of counterfeit drugs to the U. and to stop the illegal sales of these drugs to consumers.”
While the law is part of the health care reform law, it was passed in 1998.
If it is passed, the proposal would ban Internet sales of prescription drugs like Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and other prescription drugs.
It comes after reports surfaced of a similar bill, passed in 2013, that had several other provisions that would ban online purchases of prescription drugs.
In the U. Senate, the proposal would prohibit the sale of “all or a portion of the prescription drugs sold by or under the supervision of a physician.” The bill would also include restrictions on selling counterfeit drugs.
Viagra is an FDA-approved prescription drug that’s FDA-approved to treat erectile dysfunction. It’s the only FDA-approved drug to treat the symptoms of male impotence.
It’s unclear if the bill would affect men who buy prescription drugs online.
On Tuesday, Sanders proposed the bill.
“I don’t want to take the easy way out, but I want to emphasize that I am not against the sale of counterfeit drugs. I’m not against the way people buy them online. I’m against putting a black and white line on what should be a fairly simple bill that addresses the issues raised in a scientific study,” he said in the statement.
Sanders said the bill “will not allow any person, firm or institution, company, individual or institution to purchase counterfeit or substandard drugs.”
On Friday, Sanders said the bill would ban Internet pharmacies from selling counterfeit drugs.

Sildenafil, commonly known as Viagra, is a prescription medication that's used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It works by helping to relax the blood vessels in the penis, allowing blood to flow into the penis when you get sexually excited or aroused. A jury was due to hear about the case in a court of law in Philadelphia on Monday, and the US Attorney’s Office will hold a trial in the US beginning in the week of Monday.
The court heard the man was convicted last year of three felony counts of making illegal payments to a US bank, using his bank account as a personal financial institution, making false and misleading statements about his personal financial relationships, and using his bank account for a financial fraud.
The trial was set to take place on Nov. 23.
The trial is set to last until Tuesday, and the judge ordered the defendant to appear in court in Philadelphia on April 7.
Judge James C. Morris, of the District Court of Philadelphia, will also preside over the trial.
